clear to new england and back

I got a nice surprise last week. Mandy and James, friends from the Adcenter (now the Brandcenter), came to visit me at home.

School started again yesterday, and their visit really helped me look forward to coming back more than I was. As I mentioned previously in December, Mandy and Tamice are my 2 best friends at school. On January 2, Tamice told me she wasn't coming back for our 2nd semester. Maybe I'll do a post on what she's up to in the next few weeks. Briefly, she's in Kansas City and we likely won't see her at all while we're in Richmond. I had no idea of this when I said goodbye to her in December.

Given that disappointment, spending time with Mandy and James was even more fun. I had to break the news about Tamice to them, though. They were also disappointed and shocked.
I took my friends to Newport on the Cliff Walk. We also went to Jamestown and Providence. We lucked out with 60 degree weather both days.

My friends were amused by some of the accents, since Mandy is from northern Virginia and James is from London. They said they didn't believe some of the Italian stereotypes but got to witness them first-hand.
On a visit to the State House, someone in the men's room asked James where he was from. Apparently, this guy thought James couldn't figure out the paper towel machine. When James said he was from London, the guy said, in his best Soprano's sounding voice, "That's all right. Don't worry about it!"

We ate at my favorite diner (Nick's on Broadway) and had Italian food for dinner with my dad. At one point during dinner, we talked about Crystal Pepsi and the clear product fad that was around in the 1990's. I told them about this commercial Saturday Night Live had done spoofing that craze.

I had to look it up online for myself and now I'm sharing it with you.
Hope you enjoy it. :-)
