Once in a while I get official comments on the posts I write. By that, I mean that people sometimes leave an actual comment on blogger. More often, my readers respond via e-mail or by talking to me. No matter the method used to communicate, I appreciate the feedback. It's great to know that:- someone finds a story of mine moving, funny or thought-provoking
- people are paying attention to what I have written, or the mere fact that people are reading what I have written at all!
My friend Claudine said she thinks of my blog as a bunch of short (more like tiny) stories. She thinks the posts are interesting windows into my life. That was significant to me since Claudine doesn't know as much about my background as some other family and friends. Even without that context, the stories make sense and have meaning to her.
I'm curious as to why people rarely leave a comment posted on the blog itself. It's exciting for me when they do. Blogger even e-mails me when it happens. The official comments open up the opportunity for a conversation with me and others that everyone can read. It's like the time a dozen or so of my family members were all e-mailing one another planning food for Christmas Eve and making jokes. That was fun--almost like a conference call only there was no phone and we couldn't hear anything.
We'll see if anyone is motivated to leave official comments after I put this post up. If not, that is fine, especially because the unofficial ones I've received have been positive. I wonder which of you would give me constructive criticism if you had some! I would be happy to hear it. In that case, though, you don't need to post an official comment. ;-)
