Have you ever discussed "the list" of celebrities you'd leave your significant other for? It's all hypothetical, but it's interesting and fun (and sometimes intimidating) to hear what people make the cut. For instance, I've heard a few men a generation older than me say that Sophia Loren was the only woman who could induce him to leave his wife. I guess Sophia Loren is a common choice for men of that age group.

I've always had a tough time putting people on the list, since there aren't many guys (celebrity or otherwise) that make me take notice. I do have a current favorite, though--Mark Ruffalo. He was in the movie Just Like Heaven, opposite Reese Witherspoon. It's a cute romantic comedy, and he's incredibly appealing in it. He was believable as a match for Reese, which you can't say about all her leading men. There's something down-to-earth (no pun intended) and charming about him. I knew nothing about Mark (yes, we're on a first-name basis) before that movie. I wouldn't know any other movies that he stars in, whether previously released or coming soon.

A few weeks ago I went to see Zodiac, about real-life murders in California in the 1960's. T
hose of you who know me can guess I didn't pick the movie. Fortunately, there weren't too many killing scenes. I covered my eyes during them while my "date" chuckled at me. One of the scenes upset me enough to lose sleep, since these killings (a) really happened and (b) were random acts of violence. Also, I didn't totally cover my eyes, and sort of half-watched through my hand. That was a mistake. I couldn't sleep because I kept replaying one woman screaming while the murderer stabbed her.

Overall the movie was ok, except it took 2 1/2 hours to find out that the murders were never solved
definitively. The best thing about the movie? To my surprise, Mark Ruffalo was one of the main investigators and (hooray!) prominent characters. He was a little '60s/'70s looking with the sideburns and longer hair, but incredibly cute and likable. I'm not sure about all the reasons why I'd put him on "the list," but he's definitely there. I just wish I could have focused on that the other night when I was trying to sleep!

ps While doing some research to find links for this post, I came across some things about Mark that were great, and others that were disappointing. This video is both annoying and comical. Check out his repetitive hand gestures during this political speech. Guess acting talent doesn't equate to public speaking ability. I'll try not to think about that video when I watch his movies so I can at least still think he's cute.
