I have to be assaulted by this ad every day on my drive to work. There's a giant billboard of it near the highway. Granted, you can't see the image as clearly as this version in a magazine. Still, I have the unfortunate reminder each morning. This advertisement is for a local restaurant, called XO. It's one of several restaurants owned by the same people. In one of the other eateries, there are two body casts (front and back) of one of the female owners. I guess these people have an obsession with showing their bodies off, even when no one wants to see them.
The campaign for XO features bartenders, waiters and others who have worked at the restaurant. They're all undressed with props placed conveniently in front of vital areas. My question is: Won't these pictures make more people's stomachs turn than want to go to dinner at XO? The sight of this guy--naked grinning from ear to ear--while carrying a tray of drinks is nauseating. And why is he so shiny? Couldn't they touch up the photo so he didn't look so plastic. But that's the least of the problems. I don't want to think about an unclothed person around my food. I REALLY don't want to envision what happens when this man turns around or sideways after he puts the drinks down.
These photos are getting lots of attention. That's what they're supposed to do. I don't think they'll attract any clientele. In fact, people (like me and others I've talked to) are likely to take their butts elsewhere.
