When exactly did spring -- then summer -- happen? First it's less freezing and the days don't get dark as early. Then all of a sudden all the trees have leaves and flowers are blooming and the lawn has tons of dandelions on it and it's light until after 8 p.m.
I took this picture of the one tree (rather than shrub) in the yard, which sports these beautiful pink flowers each year. I wish they would last longer, but the flowers stay for about a week before falling off. The leaves that are left behind aren't unattractive. They just aren't nearly as stunning as the puffy pink flowers.
I took this photo on a Monday. You can see that the tree wasn't fully covered with the flowers yet. Then I was away for a few days. When I got back on Saturday, all the blooms were gone. It reminded me to pay attention to beauty around me, both in people and things. Don't we often think there will be time for noticing later on? You could say, "there's always next year." Sometimes, though, there isn't.
