A few weeks ago, Winnie had some kind of stroke. They thought it was vertigo at first. But when he wasn't getting any better, they had to put him to sleep. I got really sad when I heard that news. Winnie was a great dog in so many ways. His main faults were his propensity for wandering and his dislike of kids. Even in his final moments, he growled at Andrew!
Winnie was a puppy at heart. Even at 14 he was often playful. He loved attention and luckily for him he got plenty with Auntie around. Winnie was also a terrific guard dog. I wish I had him down here in Richmond in the dungeon.
When I was home for Thanksgiving, Auntie Ellen gave me a black lab for Webkinz. It's pretty cute. We decided to name it Jazwin, in honor of the 2 black labs that we've all known and loved. I'm afraid of being on Webkinz, though, since Auntie has a bunch of the kids AND grown-ups hooked on it. For now, my school work has to come first.
If you don't know what Webkinz are, you're missing a giant fad among kids from about 4 to 12. You get a stuffed animal with an online code and a virtual version of your pet to play with and care for. You can interact with everyone else's pets. You play games to earn money for decorating your rooms, feeding your pets and sending gifts to friends (all in computer-land, not in real life).
So Jazwin and I will give this a go at some point. But there won't be nearly as many great stories as with Winnie. Even though Jackie didn't get to see it, he really was a great dog.
Say hi to Mom, Josh, Obie and Bailey for us, Winnie.
