actions in bloom

Isn't it great when you get recognized? I don't mean that in the celebrity-sighting sense. Instead, I mean it in the appreciation sense.

Someone sent this gorgeous arrangement to me recently, and it brightened up my environment for almost 2 weeks. Each time I looked at the flowers, I was reminded that someone thinks I'm special and cares about me. Of course I knew this already but the visual and physical presence of the gift added to the reality of it.

Each day is an opportunity to show the people we care about that they're appreciated. We get into routines, though, and often forget to give our love and thoughtfulness away in a tangible form. We think about who is important to us and why they are important, but we forget to translate it out of our heads and hearts and into their world. So, if you've been negligent or not as demonstrative as you would like to be, do something about it!

I have resolved to do things each day to acknowledge people who are important in my life. Sometimes I'll express it verbally. Sometimes I'll be more creative or less obvious about it. Here's one for today: If you are reading this, it is because you are someone immensely dear to me (no one else reads my blog except for people close to me, ok?). You've cared about me, listened to me, laughed with me, cried with me and stuck with me through trying times. I often reflect on how I am blessed that you care about me. Please don't forget that. But, even if you do, I'll be sure to remind you again. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
